Fall skies in the Okanagan
Wow, October already. Oh, where has the year gone? It’s Thanksgiving again…? Turkey Day, yes!
Fall has definitely now chilled any lingering warm summer air that may have remained in the Okanagan and although the sun is shining today, the weather has been somewhat threatening lately. I have this feeling we may be in for quite the cold and stormy winter this year…
As returning readers may have noticed, Okanagan Wildlife has undergone some major renovations that were quite badly needed. Hopefully, everyone likes the new look. The redesign is just a start. So, make sure to keep checking back for new additions, features, photos, and articles.

Imported apples...
So, maybe I am a bit spoiled when it comes to fresh fruit and produce. One thing is for sure, I am picky when it comes to produce. This, has led me to being very adamant about knowing where my food comes from and my newest rant on board A Growing Garden. Included below, is a brief excerpt... Take a moment, check it out and feel free to share your opinions on my thoughts around "Imported apples..."
"...Why does it matter where the stuff’s grown? A potato is a potato, a tomato is a tomato, why does it matter?..."

Introducing... A Growing Garden
Well, after all the interest that arose from the collection of landscape and garden articles which I had posted the other day, a new blog has been born.
Yesterday, A Growing Garden was planted…

Planning, planting, creating your 2011 garden landscapes
Yes, I know, the holidays are barely over and here I go talking about spring, gardens, landscaping and planting vegetables. I will admit, I am very much looking forward to the warmth and sunny weather of summer, as I usually do this time of the year. This yearning led me to spending some time this holiday break working on a collection of garden and landscape articles. Feel free to browse through the following links!
~How to choose which vegetables to grow in your garden
~How to grow vegetables in a cold climate
~Tips to consider when adding groundcovers to your landscape
~Landscaping ideas: Grass-free designs
~Using herbs as landscaping borders
Hopefully some of the provided gardening information and tips will help in the planning, planting and creation of your 2011 landscape, garden or outdoor living space.
The best of wishes for 2011.
